The Tigers are back!
The Tigers are back! Well…. almost. As Spring Training continues, Tigers fans are counting down the days until Opening Day. The ballpark is buzzing as preparations are in full swing. Earlier this morning the scoreboard tiger statues arrived from Connecticut where they were being cleaned and repaired for the season.
The statues arrived on two flatbed semi-trucks, each weighing 10,000 lbs. The journey back to Comerica Park took three days. Upon their arrival, crews were waiting to properly remove them from the truck and fasten them to their steel base. The entire process took approximately two hours per statue. Once they were in place, the tigers were “swung” to the top of the scoreboard using a crane.
