Tigers Vice President / Assistant General Manager Inducted into Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame

Miguel Cabrera, Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Luis Castillo, Edgar Renteria. Those are just a few of the many great players that Tigers Vice President / Assistant General Manager, Al Avila has helped to scout and sign in his 21 seasons in professional baseball.

And on Saturday, August 11, his eye for talent was honored as the St. Paul Saints inducted him into the Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame.

The bronze plaque honoring his contributions and accomplishments as a scout will be displayed at the four minor league clubs owned by the Goldklang Group.

“I am very thankful and I appreciate being selected to the 2012 Class of The Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame,” said Avila to the St. Paul Saints. “Being selected is humbling for me joining this special baseball group.”

Avila joined the Tigers organization in his current role in April 2002. He is responsible for assisting General Manager David Dombrowski with the day-to-day baseball operations of the organization and major league club.
