Has "Who's Your Tiger?" run it's course?
Internally we have been debating for the last two years if it's time for "Who's Your Tiger?" to be retired as our slogan. There has been a lot of discussions (both for and against) on our message boards as well. On the one hand, there's a lot of "equity" in the slogan--meaning that most of Detroit is familiar with the slogan and many people often refer to players as "their Tiger". We've even been selling WYT T-shirts for the past few years. Hitting the right note with a marketing slogan is extremely hard to do (we've had quite a few slogans that were "one and done" -- anyone remember "Earning Our Stripes" or "We Come to Play"?) When we created the WYT slogan, a lot of "casual" fans that we were looking for were unfamiliar with our players. The hiring of Jim Leyland and the World Series run of 2006 brought a lot of attention to our team and the popularity of it really took off. We finally had something on the level of "Hockeytown" or "Goin' to Work". However, it's always best to change it one year too soon rather than one year too late, so we decided that we had to put it up to the fans. We will be sending out random online surveys to a (statistically) large percentage of our email database in the coming weeks. Please let us know what you think.

Zumaya has been my Tiger since his debut against the Yankees. I don't have one currently, but I'd buy a WYT T-shirt next year even if the slogan was changed. I've chatted online with other Tiger fans, and spirits are low. I think, as a fan, that after this season, good or bad, a new slogan would feel refreshing.

I like the Who's Your Tiger slogan...It's grown on me since '06. I remember the "We Come to Play" from '03, that was the first year I started really following the Tigers (Casual fan since 2001). I have a few favorite Tigers: Bonderman, Thames, Verlander, Miner, and Galarraga, my new favorite Tiger. I have a lot more, but they're all former Tigers now.

WYT is a great slogan. But the expectations for this season are so high among fans that if a world series isn't won, fans will want a new fresh season in 2009 along with a new slogan. If a world series is won, then WYT will forever be associated with the Jim Leyland 3 year run to a world series. And a new slogan should take place in 2009.
Either way, I feel that Who's Your Tiger had a great run and is seeing it's last season

They are all "My Tigers" but I'm curious about what happened to the team spirit they use to show. Lately they sit in the dugout quiet. The only time you see any "spirit" in when they are hitting. What happened to the gum inning? What happened to the rally caps? The fans and the team use to join in the fun together. It used to be fun to see them having fun on or off the field, rallying each other and just having good clean fun. Lately they sit on the bench likes it a chore. I love "Who's Your Tiger?" but lets see some fun too. Keep the rally going!

Who's Your Tiger is a great slogan. I would hate to see the end of that slogan. The commericals are awesome and top notch. Not sure why you would want to retire something that is effective and catchy.

I love the "Who's your Tiger" theme, I'd also love to meet my Tiger...... maybe they should throw that into the mix one of these seasons. A chance to meet your Tiger without spending tons of money to make that possible. Some of us aren't exactly rollin out the dough here if you know what I mean.
