Homestand Highlights (May 5 – May 11)

The #Tigers finished an eight game road trip with a 9-3 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, and will return home on Monday to take on the Houston Astros for the first time this year. While on the road, the Tigers moved to 17-9 and extended their lead atop the American League Central to 4.5 games.

DYNAMIC DEALS IN MAY

New for 2014, the Tigers are offering “Dynamic Deals” for select games in May. Fans can enjoy discounts on tickets to see the Tigers battle their AL Central Division rivals at home. Get more information at tigers.com/tickets

ALL-STAR VOTING IS IN FULL SWING

Voting for the 84th Major League Baseball All-Star Game has opened. Tigers fans can vote for their favorite Tigers on the ballot online and at Comerica Park. Last year’s All-Star Roster included six Tigers, including Miguel Cabrera, Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. Fans can vote up to 25 times per email address here: VOTE NOW!

5/5 – ASTROS v. TIGERS at 7:08 PM ET

  • Cinco de Mayo Celebration: Comerica Park will host live entertainment on the concourse from 5-7 p.m. near the Big Cat Court (behind Section 119) and Brushfire Grill (behind Section 131). Also as a part of the celebration, the Tigers sold Special Edition Cinco de Mayo t-shirts which helped benefit the Centro Multicultural La Familia in Pontiac, MI.
  • In-Park All-Star Balloting: The time is now to vote your favorite Tigers players into the 2014 All-Star Game at Target Field. Beginning on May 5th, fans will have the opportunity to vote in-park as well as online for the All-Star Game.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch: The ceremonial first pitches will be thrown out by Detroit Lions safety, Glover Quin, U.S. Speedskating Olympian Kelly Gunther, and University of Michigan Men’s Basketball player, Nik Stauskas.

5/6 – ASTROS v. TIGERS at 7:08 PM ET

  • Ceremonial First Pitch: The ceremonial first pitches will be thrown out by the star of “Defending the Caveman”, Vince Valentine and The Samurai from the current Detroit Institute of Arts exhibit “Samurai: Beyond the Sword.”
  • National Anthem: The national anthem will be performed by country vocalist Julianne Ankley, recent winner of the Outstanding Country Songwriter Award from the Detroit Music Awards.

5/7 – ASTROS v. TIGERS at 7:08 PM ET

  • Ceremonial First Pitch: The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by former “Hardcore Pawn” and “Meltdown” star, Rich Pyle.

5/8 – ASTROS v. TIGERS at 1:08 PM ET

  • Space Day: Astronaut Dr. Michael Massimino will speak to more than 3,000 students and educators before the game as part of the club’s Class Outside Series. Massimino will share his experiences from his trips to space to service the Hubble Telescope, and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game.
  • Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Day: The Tigers were the first professional sports team to commit to the G.R.E.A.T. in 1994. Now in its 20th year, the Tigers will welcome 875 Detroit Area middle school students from the 13-week program to Comerica Park to celebrate their achievements in avoiding destructive behaviors.

5/9 – TWINS v. TIGERS at 7:08 PM ET

  • Miguel Cabrera Three-Time Batting Champion Trophy Giveaway: The first 10,000 fans to enter Comerica Park on Friday will receive the trophy courtesy of Pepsi.
  • Fourth Annual Zubazpalooza: For the fourth year, the Tigers are offering a special ticket package for stripe-enthusiasts during Zubazpalooza. Find out how to purchase the special ticket package here

5/10 – TWINS v. TIGERS at 1:08 PM ET

  • Tribute to Jim Leyland: Prior to the game, the Tigers will honor the third-winningest manager in franchise history in a special pre-game, on-field ceremony at Comerica Park. The former skipper will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game. Be sure to be in your seats by 12:40 p.m. so you don’t miss a minute of this special ceremony.
  • 2014-15 Wall Calendar Giveaway: The first 10,000 fans to enter Comerica Park on Saturday will receive the giveaway courtesy of Red Robin.
  • Pre-Game On-Field Clinic: From 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. fans are welcomed onto the playing field at Comerica Park for a special pre-game clinic featuring Tigers players. Fans will choose a station and Tigers players and coaches will rotate among the stations giving fans tips on hitting, infield defense, pitching and catching. The clinic is weather permitting and sponsored by Red Robin. Autographs are not permitted.

5/11 – TWINS v. TIGERS at 1:08 PM ET

  • Happy Mother’s Day! All Moms and Kids 14-and-under will receive a special Mother’s Day Picture Frame, courtesy of Little Caesars. Plus, the first 500 families to visit the Fan Foto display in the FOX Sports Detroit Brushfire Grill will receive a FREE Mother’s Day branded photo to place in their new frame. Upon entry to the ballpark, 500 moms will be invited to participate in a special on-field recognition during the singing of the national anthem.
  • Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer: Major League Baseball and the Detroit Tigers have partnered with Komen for the Cure to go to bat against breast cancer. The Tigers donated 1,000 tickets to breast cancer survivors, volunteers and their families from the Detroit Race for the Cure to attend the Mother’s Day game. More than 150 breast cancer survivors will be invited onto the field and recognized prior to the national anthem. In addition, the Tigers winner from Major League Baseball’s Honorary Bat Girl contest to recognize inspirational fans that have been affected by breast cancer will be honored prior to the start of the game and will throw a ceremonial first pitch. During the game, players from both clubs will use pink bats, and all baseballs will have pink stitching.
  • Sunday Kids Day: All Sunday home games are Kids Days at Comerica Park. All kids 14-and-younger will receive a free promotional item as part of the “Every Kid, Every Sunday” giveaway guarantee, can enjoy free rides courtesy of Kroger on the Comerica Bank Carousel or the Fly Ball Ferris Wheel, can take part in free face painting, have the chance to win a bicycle and are invited down to the field forKids Run the Bases courtesy of Aquafina and Meijer following the game, weather permitting.
